Get Immediate Medical Attention for Your Back - 3 Lower Right Back Pain Symptoms that Shout Out Emergency!

Lower right back pain may get really serious if accompanied by any of the following 3 symptoms. In case, you notice these, seek immediate medical attention. In most cases, an MRI or CT scan is recommended to confirm the suspected cause of back pain:

1. Unexplained Weight Loss

Since lower spine veins drain your pelvis, they allow a direct path for bacteria entry into the spine. This results in a condition known as vertebral osteomyelitis (an infection of a vertebral body in the spine). Unexplained weight loss is the most common symptom of this condition. Lower right back pain, swelling around the spine and fever are some of the other symptoms.

Vertebral osteomyelitis is more common among elderly patients, intravenous drug users, and individuals with compromised immune systems.

2. Nausea and/or Vomiting

Appendicitis is a condition caused by inflammation or rupturing of appendix (located on the lower right hand side of the abdomen). It commonly occurs among people between age of 10 and 30. The condition also causes lower right back pain, nausea and/or vomiting. Patients usually complain of pain in the lower right hand side of their abdomen.

If these symptoms are troubling you or you suspect you have appendicitis, seek immediate medical attention. The only way to treat this condition is to head straight to the emergency room or else your condition may deteriorate faster.

3. Low Blood Pressure

Aortic Aneurysm is a condition where your aorta (artery that stretches from your heart to the abdomen) becomes weak or balloons in size. Low blood pressure is a common symptom of an abdominal aortic aneurysm. It may also follow the sudden onset of abdominal pain or lower back pain and nausea. Abdominal aortic aneurysm is common among patients with high cholesterol levels and high blood pressure.

Prevention is always better than cure. Hence, if you are suffering from lower right back pain combined one or more symptoms listed above, seek immediate medical attention. Consult a specialist for Lower Back Pain
